Job Functions

Our client is on the hunt for an HR Operations Manager who will be in charge of maintaining and enhancing their company’s human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices.

 

Responsibilities

  • Ensure HR procedures are carried out and comply with employment law and regulations
  • Manage employee onboarding, orientation, routine performance reviews, as well as exit interviews (“off”-boarding), in conjunction with the Program Manager
  • Support employee payroll system in conjunction with finance
  • Manage personnel files, employee records, and employee data
  • Perform ongoing background checks, periodic employee paperwork audits, per policy and procedure requirements as needed
  • Identify employee conflicts and suggest potential solutions
  • Create and implement recruitment strategies, in conjunction with leadership team
  • Create and post job opportunities for all positions based in West and Central Africa, as approved by the Program Manager
  • Manage the application process: conduct initial screening of applications to short-list candidates; coordinate application review with the leadership team, and conduct  reference and/or background checks for short-listed candidates
  • Conduct initial phone interviews; coordinate finalist phone/video/in-person interviews with leadership team
  • Prepare offer letters and compensation packages
  • Ensure organizational human resources compliance; stay abreast of national, state, local and global employee and payroll law changes; coordinate with leadership and compliance team to research, draft and implement internal policy changes as needed
  • Ensure any employee complaints are addressed within the law and internal policy
  • Work in conjunction with leadership and compliance team for any severe human resources policy violations, or employee-related legal claims or actions
  • Complete required HR-related filings, audits and reports, for external regulatory entities
  • Serve as a resource to employees and management to interpret general human resources policy (e.g. benefits, payroll and time-off policies, complaint and discipline policies)

Job Requirements

  • Strong organizational savvy and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • High degree of proficiency with MS Office, including advanced email & calendar management, word processing, spreadsheet and database skills
  • Proficiency in use of voice and video conferencing software and equipment
  • Ability to work independently to perform a wide range of duties under general guidance from supervisor; high level of integrity and dependability
  • Knowledge of HR and payroll-related laws, legal requirements, mandated reports
  • Strong research skills, and the ability to interpret legal and policy requirements
  • Strong proficiency in analyzing information, compiling data, and preparing reports
  • Cross-cultural competency; ability to work with a diverse, global team
  • English fluency
  • Certified professional – SHRM, CIPD, CIPM is a prerequisite

 

Education and Experience

  • Possession of a B.Sc in Business, Human Resources or related field required
  • Five years of HR generalist experience, including previous employee relations and recruitment experience
  • Experience working with an organization based in multiple locations, preferred; global experience a plus
  • Experience in life sciences, public health, or biomedical/biotechnology organization background highly preferred
